Rosalin Karamm

The Trinidad born soprano was encouraged early in her career by winning a number of prizes and scholarships. These included awards from the Ralph Vaughan Williams Trust and the London Arts Association, and later an award from the Italian Government to study at the Academy Chigiana in Siena.

Rosalin Karamm has performed widely in the UK and America and has also taken part in many European festivals, singing in both opera and recital.

As a straight actress she has performed in Euripides' Medea and T.S. Elliot's Murder in the Cathedral.

Rosalin Karamm is a true Verdi Lyrico Spinto Soprano with a rich, dark toned, sumptuous voice capable of power as well as of the melting pianissimo and agility required by Verdi and other composers of the Bel Canto School that included Bellini and Donizetti.

Her voice is well suited to the Jugendlich Dramatisch roles of German repertoire, such as those of Elizabeth in Wagner's Tannhauser or of Ariadne in Strauss' opera.

Rosalin Karamm is also an enthusiastic and natural recitalist, embracing the standard Lieder repertoire and including many French and Spanish songs.

Recently Rosalin has been widening her repertoire to include Isolde in Wagner's Tristran and Isolde and Salome in Strauss' Salome.
